Glenn Strebel Award
Truck Officer of the Year
**Purpose**
The Glenn Strebel Award honors law enforcement officers who have significantly contributed to enhancing professionalism in the enforcement of truck laws in Illinois.
**Who was Strebel?**
Glenn Strebel served as a part-time police officer in East Dundee, IL, from 2006 to 2009, specializing in truck enforcement. A strong advocate for, he embodied the ITEA motto, “Exceptional Authority Demands Exceptional Accountability.” Whenever faced with enforcement uncertainty, Glenn sought guidance from fellow truck officers rather than issuing an incorrect citation. Sadly, Glenn passed away from a rare cancer at the age of 42 on September 10, 2009, and was an exemplary officer and a retired Lieutenant from the Village of Barrington Fire Department in 2008. The Illinois Truck Enforcement Association was established to support officers like Glenn by providing essential resources for effective truck law enforcement. For more about Glenn, check out our blog post.

**Nominations**
Nominations for the Glenn Strebel Award are currently open. Anyone can submit a nomination to the ITEA, but it must be approved by the Chief Executive or the administrator of the nominee's police agency. Nominations should be submitted online to the ITEA Board of Directors.
